    Temp Mail for Reddit

Reddit sends a 6-digit code to confirm your email, which arrives in the inbox below. It also says plainly that extra accounts are fine, and you can even verify several with the same email, so you may not need a throwaway address at all.

For throwaway signups only. Don't use a temp address for banking, medical or anything sensitive.

    Throwaways are allowed

Reddit's help answers "Is it ok to create multiple accounts?" with "Yes!". What its rules forbid is voting on the same post from several accounts, which counts as vote manipulation, and using another account in a community that banned you, which can get you suspended site-wide. Automating account creation is banned too.

Since one email can verify several accounts, a throwaway can sit on your normal address and stay recoverable. Reddit staff could link them, but other users can't. A temp address only adds something if you don't want Reddit itself holding your email.

    Signing up

    • Reddit offers a phone number (in some countries), Google, Apple or email.
    • Email sign-ups enter a 6-digit code Reddit sends. Official mail comes from @reddit.com, @redditmail.com or @redditforcommunity.com.
    • Your username can never be changed, so pick it with care.

    Waiting on the code

Reddit's help says its emails can take up to an hour, and to allowlist noreply@reddit.com. Leave this tab open, then ask for a new code if nothing comes.

Reddit also says verifying with a well-known provider such as Gmail, Outlook or Yahoo is one way to signal good faith, though other domains are okay too. We found no public statement that it blocks disposable domains, and ours are on the public disposable list.

    Without a working email

Reddit strongly recommends keeping an email on every account, because without one you can't reset a lost password, and security locks are cleared by a reset email. With a temp address, both go nowhere once the inbox has gone.

    Questions

Why can't my new account post in some subreddits?

Many communities set a minimum account age or karma. That applies to every new account, whatever email it was made with.

Can I add a real email to a throwaway later?

Yes, under Settings, then General, then Email address. Reddit sends a link to confirm it.

    What's the minimum age?

13 in most places, and 16 in Australia.
