Can You Send Email From Temp Mail?
Not from this site. The inbox here only receives: you can read mail and copy codes, but nothing goes out. If you need to send or reply without using your real address, an email alias does the job, and some are free.
Checked October 2026 against each service's own pricing and help pages.
Why this inbox is receive-only
Addresses on this site come from mail.tm, a public temporary mail provider, with a backup provider if it is down. mail.tm's own FAQ says it does not offer sending, and its public API has no send endpoint. This site adds none either. There is no compose button, no reply button and no outgoing mail server behind it.
That is normal for temp mail, and it is the reason the addresses work at all. A free inbox that could also send without any sign-up would be a gift to spammers, and its domains would soon be blocked by Gmail and Outlook.
Temp mail sites that do send
A few disposable inbox sites have a compose page. Guerrilla Mail is the best known. When we looked on 9 October 2026, its compose page said sending was suspended for the day, which shows the problem: open sending gets abused, so it is rationed or switched off. Don't plan around it.
Aliases that can reply or send
An alias is a forwarding address. Mail sent to it lands in your normal inbox, and the services below let you answer through the alias so the other person never sees your real address. Unlike temp mail, you need an account with the alias service, and the alias lasts until you switch it off.
| Service | Cost | Reply | Start a new email |
|---|---|---|---|
| DuckDuckGo Email Protection | Free | Yes | Yes, by writing to a specially formatted Duck address |
| SimpleLogin | Free plan, 10 aliases | Yes, on the free plan | Premium only ($36 a year) |
| Apple Hide My Email | Needs iCloud+ | Yes | Yes, from Mail or iCloud.com |
| Firefox Relay | Free plan for forwarding | Premium only, within 3 months | No |
| addy.io | Free plan for forwarding | Paid plans only | Paid plans only |
| Yahoo disposable addresses | Yahoo Mail Plus (3 to try) | Yes | Yes |
Prices and limits change. Firefox Relay raised its free plan from 5 to 50 masks in 2026, though parts of its own site still said 5 when we checked. Follow the links for current terms.
Picking one
- You want it free and need to start conversations: DuckDuckGo. To write to someone new, you send to a Duck address built from theirs, and it goes out from your Duck address.
- You mostly answer people who wrote first: SimpleLogin's free plan covers replies.
- You already pay for iCloud+: Hide My Email is built into Mail, Safari and iCloud.com, and you can create as many addresses as you need.
- You only need to receive: any of them, or a temp mail inbox if you need the address once and never again.
What an alias still gives away
An alias hides your address, not you. Your name in the From line, your signature and any quoted text travel with the reply. DuckDuckGo's help page on replies warns that details inside the message can still identify you. The alias service also knows which real inbox is behind every alias, and will act on abuse reports.
If you also want a separate Gmail-style address you can log in to, our temp Gmail guide covers what plus addresses and dots can and can't do.
Questions
Can I reply to an email in this inbox?
No. The inbox here only receives. You can read messages, open links and copy codes, but there is no reply or compose button, and nothing is ever sent from your temporary address.
Why don't most temp mail sites let you send?
Anonymous sending with no sign-up is exactly what spammers and phishers want. A service that allowed it would soon have its domains blocked by every big mail provider, and then its addresses would stop working for receiving too.
What is the cheapest way to send from an address that isn't my own?
DuckDuckGo Email Protection is free and lets you reply and start new emails from a Duck address. SimpleLogin's free plan lets you reply from up to 10 aliases. Both forward to an inbox you already have.
Will the person I email see my real address?
Not if you send through the alias service's own route. But check what you quote and sign: your name, signature or the text of an earlier message can still give you away, as DuckDuckGo's own help points out.
