    Temp Mail for Cursor

Cursor is an AI code editor. Its staff have said on the official forum that it blocks temporary email providers, so expect the address below to be refused. This page covers why, and what to sign in with instead.

    Cursor's position

In a February 2025 answer on forum.cursor.com, a Cursor staff member told a user their domain was blocked because it was "either a temporary email address provider, or is known for abuse", and suggested a domain such as gmail.com. People who had already paid were pointed to hi@cursor.com for a refund.

That is Cursor's call, and this site doesn't try to get round it. Blocks like this usually exist to stop people opening account after account on a free plan.

    Sign-in options that work

    • GitHub or Google, which most developers already have.
    • An email code or magic link sent to an address you keep. A staff answer from April 2026 says you can also set a password through Forgot Password.
    • SSO, on Teams and Enterprise plans.

Cursor's help also says sign-in is moving from authenticator.cursor.sh to accounts.x.ai and accounts.spacex.ai, with the old page retired on 30 October. If a login link looks unfamiliar, check it against that page.

Why a throwaway would hurt here anyway

Cursor's help says accounts are tied to a single email that can't be changed on an existing account. The only route is cancelling, deleting and starting over. Your settings, usage and any subscription live on that account, so it should sit on an inbox you'll still have next year.

To keep Cursor's emails apart from your main inbox, use a plus address such as you+cursor@gmail.com and filter it, or an alias service.

    Questions

Why does Cursor say my email is unauthorized?

The usual reason is a domain on its block list, which covers temporary email providers and domains linked to abuse. Use a mainstream address or sign in with GitHub or Google.

Can I move my Cursor account to another email later?

No. Cursor's help says the email on an existing account can't be changed. Pick the address you want to keep from the start.

    Is there a free plan?

Yes. Cursor's pricing page lists a free Hobby plan with limited agent requests and no card needed. Its terms say you must be 18 or the age of majority.
